A new study to be published in the The Lancet this Thursday will link approximately 655,000 deaths in Iraq to the illegal US/UK invasion and occupation. The study is a follow up to the one published October 29th, 2004 in the The Lancet which conservatively estimated Iraqi deaths directly linked to the US-lead war at 100,000.
To those who support the illegal war on Iraq, obviously these figures cannot possibly be correct. After all - they have their own sources. Oh wait - the US refused to acknowledge the deaths directly attributable to them by refusing to keep statistics on any casualties other than their own soldiers.
This new figure is equivalent to 2.5% of Iraq's population. To make this clearer to those in the West, this would be 7,500,000 Americans killed due to an illegal invasion of their country. In Canada - 800,000, the UK - 1,515,000.
Yup, America has proven once again that it is number 1 - in causing death and destruction on a massive scale.
It makes me want to believe the old saying 'what goes around comes around', but I wouldn't wish this kind of hell on anyone.
